Wilmington, NC holds several slogans such as “The Port City,” “Filmington,” “Wilmywood” and now, taking a cue from Virginia, “Wilmington is for Runners.” As summer’s warm weather rounds the corner so do many 5Ks’, triathlons’, full and half marathons’, mud runs’, fun runs’, and charity runs’ but that’s not the only reason Wilmington is for runners. The Port City has and is expanding its roads and sidewalks, paving more off road running trails, and improving parks to make the city friendlier for runners and non-runners alike. Adding to the conglomerate dreamer’s paradise are Wilmington’s picturesque beaches, lush and fragrant forests, and mild climate. So whether you’re an avid runner, just for fun runner, charity runner, motivated by your waistline runner, or supporter for those who do run, there is an event for you. Interested in running?
